Imperialism
The effects of 18th and 19th century imperialism are still felt today. Africa’s borders are are a result of imperialism, the Vietnam war was a result of imperialism, Middle East borders are a result of imperialism, communist movements are a result of imperialism and the entire country of Hong Kong is in its current form as a result of imperialism.
The Essential Questions for this unit of study are:
- To what extent do economic systems dictate foreign policy?
- To what extent did imperialism sow its own seeds of defeat?
- Are all cultures equal in value or are some more civilized than others?
- Does imperialism still exist?
